Are regular IEP accommodations made?
Teachers will support all students by providing accommodations and differentiated instruction based on individual learning needs, strengths, and interests. This may include flexible assessment methods, additional time, assistive technology, modified resources, organizational supports, and opportunities for collaborative or independent learning. Educators will work in partnership with students, families, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment where every student can access the curriculum, demonstrate their understanding, and achieve success.
What if I want to play sports or participate in clubs at my home school?
We start slightly earlier than the secondary schools and have a slightly shorter lunch period so that students can be dismissed earlier in the day, giving them the opportunity to participate in sports teams, clubs, and other extracurricular activities at their home school.
How does the program recognize and support the diverse religious, cultural, and individual needs of students?
Inclusivity, Respect, and Accommodation in the Beyond Borders Program At the Beyond Borders Leadership Development Program, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for every student. We recognize and value the diverse cultural, religious, and personal backgrounds of the students and families who participate in our program.
As an experiential learning program that includes travel, overnight trips, community engagement, and team-building experiences, we understand that families may have questions about how individual beliefs and practices are supported throughout the semester. We want parents and guardians to feel confident that students will be respected, supported, and accommodated.
Our program works closely with students and families to ensure accommodations are made whenever possible, including:
Dietary and food requirements related to religious beliefs, allergies, or personal practices
Prayer time and access to quiet/private spaces when needed Respect for religious holidays and observances
Sleeping and accommodation considerations during overnight trips
Clothing or dress accommodations connected to cultural or religious practices
Sensitivity toward personal values, traditions, and family expectations
Open communication regarding any concerns before or during program experiences
Our goal is for every student to feel included, comfortable, and supported while participating fully in the Beyond Borders experience. We believe that leadership development begins with empathy, understanding, and respect for others.
Beyond Borders is built around community, character education, teamwork, and personal growth. We are proud to foster an environment where students from all backgrounds can learn together, support one another, and build meaningful relationships through shared experiences. We encourage families to reach out directly with any questions or accommodation requests.
Open communication is extremely important to us, and we are always happy to work collaboratively with students and parents to ensure a positive and respectful experience for everyone.
